Leidy L. Fournier, PA-C
Leidy L. Fournier, PA C, is a Spanish speaking physician assistant who was born and raised in Cuba and moved to Grand Rapids in 2005, a community she is now proud to call home. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies in 2016 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, an associate degree in Medical Assistant Studies and Phlebotomy, and a certificate in medical translation.
Leidy has more than 10 years of experience in healthcare, including six years in urgent care and emergency medicine. She is especially passionate about preventive medicine and improving access to high quality care for Spanish speaking patients. She understands how language and communication can affect a patient’s ability to navigate the healthcare system and is committed to helping bridge that gap by providing care in a language patients feel comfortable speaking.
At the heart of Leidy’s approach to medicine is a simple belief: meaningful healthcare begins with taking the time to truly listen. In a healthcare environment that can often feel rushed and impersonal, she strives to create a space where patients feel heard, understood, and cared for as individuals, not simply as diagnoses or appointments. She believes in getting to know her patients on a personal level, understanding their concerns and goals, and building a collaborative relationship that allows them to make informed decisions about their health.
Leidy wants her patients to feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their concerns without fear of judgment. She takes pride in explaining the “why” behind medical recommendations, looking beyond the obvious answer, and advocating for her patients when they need someone in their corner. Her goal is not simply to treat illness, but to work alongside her patients to optimize their health, quality of life, and long term well being.
Her decision to join Exponential Health was deeply personal. As a wife and mother of two, Leidy wants to help build the kind of healthcare system she would want for her own family, one where patients come first and medical decisions are guided by the relationship between the patient and their provider rather than the limitations imposed by large healthcare corporations or insurance policies. She was drawn to Exponential Health because it gives her the opportunity to practice medicine in a way that is more personal, thoughtful, and centered on what is truly best for each patient.
Outside of medicine, Leidy enjoys reading, photography, traveling, and going on adventures with her family. She also enjoys spending time at home with her husband, their two children, and their two small dogs, Leesi and Luna.
